A Catalyst to Innovation
Cultivating New Ideas and Methods in Bible Translation
The Innovation Lab exists to take strategic risks by testing what is untested, equipping the unequipped, and advancing what cannot move forward without special attention to help achieve ETEN’s All Access Goals.

Advancing ETEN’s Mission: A Journey to Eradicate Bible Poverty by 2033

ETEN’s Vision Ignites a Unified Movement
In 2010, Bible translation organizations and resource partners united to form Every Tribe Every Nation (ETEN), driven by a shared vision to eradicate Bible poverty by 2033. This unprecedented collaboration launched a global movement to ensure Scripture reaches every tribe and nation across the world by the target year.

ETEN's All Access Goals
ETEN’s vision is guided by a set of ambitious goals to achieve by 2033, ensuring Scripture accessibility for all:
95%
of people will have full access to the Bible.
99.96%
will have access to the New Testament.
100%
will have access to some portion of Scripture.

translations available in the world's 100 most strategic written languages
ETEN Creates the Innovation Lab
In 2021, the Innovation Lab was formed and tasked with bringing greater accessibility and acceleration needed to accomplish ETEN’s All Access Goals. Since 2021, the Lab has advanced through four key phases, each critical to its mission:
Ideation
Formation
Activation
Demonstration
Now, the Lab is focused on utilization, both developing new approaches and helping others adopt and scale what’s been proven to accelerate Bible translation, especially in areas where the All Access Goals are most at risk.
Elements of Bible Translation Innovation
As the Lab focuses on the All Access Goal languages at risk, this work is being supported by these three priorities:
Moving from text-dominant translation (requiring high literacy) toward methods that reflect how communities naturally communicate, lowering barriers to entry.
Moving from AI as an add-on to AI integrated across the translation process and embedded as standard infrastructure.
Moving from community as recipients to the local church leading translation and quality assurance, with support from the broader translation movement.
